Hey, I only recently picked up maya and only know the very basics of polygonal modeling and working with subdivision surfaces.
I would be happy to make a piece but I might be annoying because of how often I ask for help.
Would you guys be willing to help me or should I just go back to tutorials?
    >> Anonymous 05/01/10(Sat)06:59 No.83875
i would suggest picking a part, and asking any technical questions in separate threads.
if later, you find its too hard for you, you just say so (i suggest using a tripcode), and your piece will be up for grabs again. no problem at all.
    >> Anonymous 05/01/10(Sat)20:45 No.84066
just asking what about the lighting? Who is handling that?
    >> Anonymous 05/01/10(Sat)20:53 No.84067
This has been going on ever since /3/ started. I remember the very first thread.

Is there any image of any progress at all?

True, this project has been going on since 11:00 am, January 26, 2010 . Believe it or not, I have extensive archives of almost every thread of this collaboration project.

Here is the current status of the project as requested.
    >> Anonymous 05/01/10(Sat)21:56 No.84079
there are more parts btw that are not in the pic

    Just and idea:

After the model is completely done, what about turning it into an Adventure game? No, seriously, it would be ground-breaking
    >> Anonymous 05/02/10(Sun)04:25 No.84164
    >about the lighting
will be decided after everything is modeled (and probably textured)
    >turning it into an Adventure game
    keep the idea in mind
    >> Anonymous 05/02/10(Sun)11:34 No.84249

Sure hope you managed to archive the last one since besides the second, that's another one I missed.
    >> Anonymous 05/03/10(Mon)02:20 No.84536
Yeah, lots of pieces missing in this image... And part 18 (the one that's always trolled) looks really strange. I see lots of detail missing.
    >> Anonymous 05/03/10(Mon)02:21 No.84537
It would take a lot of additional modeling because everything is only modeled from one direction. In otherwords, as soon as the camera moved in any direction, there would be enormous holes everywhere.
    >> Anonymous 05/03/10(Mon)02:31 No.84539
WTF? Retarded fan looks even more retarded than last time.
    >> Anonymous 05/03/10(Mon)04:50 No.84560
holy shit its actually getting there
    >> Anonymous 05/03/10(Mon)04:52 No.84561

yeah the perspective on the fan is fucked, but we'll have to live with it.
    >> Anonymous 05/03/10(Mon)05:05 No.84564
The fan is actually modeled pretty fucking solidly, the problem is that the concepts perspective can be confusing as from a distance it looks like its facing on direction but once you zoom in it faces the other. Without the shiny tip it could be read as concave in instead of concave out. Really just need to rotate the model 90 degrees and if the guard isn't attached just rotate that so the curve is facing out.
    >> Anonymous 05/03/10(Mon)05:07 No.84565
Unfortunately it looks like all of the major fan pieces are attached and locked for that view =/

I think this shit is going to be awesome when it is finally finished. Keep up the good work guys. Also, the fan doesn't look THAT bad, in fact, some texturing/shadowing will probably make it blend in nicely. Lastly, 3rd version of the original

no, i haven't. (i might go out and inform some people about this project, though, although i'd like to keep the central here)

btw i'm only the OP of this thread, i did not start the project.
