Hey, I only recently picked up maya and only know the very basics of polygonal modeling and working with subdivision surfaces.
I would be happy to make a piece but I might be annoying because of how often I ask for help.
Would you guys be willing to help me or should I just go back to tutorials?

i would suggest picking a part, and asking any technical questions in separate threads.
if later, you find its too hard for you, you just say so (i suggest using a tripcode), and your piece will be up for grabs again. no problem at all.

It would take a lot of additional modeling because everything is only modeled from one direction. In otherwords, as soon as the camera moved in any direction, there would be enormous holes everywhere.

yeah the perspective on the fan is fucked, but we'll have to live with it.

The fan is actually modeled pretty fucking solidly, the problem is that the concepts perspective can be confusing as from a distance it looks like its facing on direction but once you zoom in it faces the other. Without the shiny tip it could be read as concave in instead of concave out. Really just need to rotate the model 90 degrees and if the guard isn't attached just rotate that so the curve is facing out.

Unfortunately it looks like all of the major fan pieces are attached and locked for that view =/

I think this shit is going to be awesome when it is finally finished. Keep up the good work guys. Also, the fan doesn't look THAT bad, in fact, some texturing/shadowing will probably make it blend in nicely. Lastly, 3rd version of the original
