If you want to join in then mark off a spot on this image, add a number, reupload it, and join in on the fun.

    1. 20,000 tris per object max
    2. No textures, we will worry about that after the geometry is done.
    3. Export your model as a .obj file when you are done.

There's still plenty of good pieces to work on, they're just smaller so you'll have to pay close attention when modeling or you'll miss details. You could try going for the structure between 17 and 15b. Though if that looks too complicated for you just get the bridge between 43 and 15b.

    59 here (again),

Still getting peeps opinions on my piece. One anon said that the signs should be more cylindrical than button-like and that it may be a bridge.

Although the signs may be cylindrical I figured they were button-like due to the light reflection they have ( see the night/sunset version >>33260 >>33274 ) Also, if it's a bridge, wouldn't it have railings or something? But if everyone else says bridge I'll make it more bridge like. I'm open to anything.

What you are thinking to be specular highlights are actually lamps on top of the signs, lighting them.

Anon that mentioned the bridge thing here. I take that back. Just had a really close look on all three images and, well I hope I'm seeing things here. But that actually looks like the ceiling and entrance into a sort of cave. And it's massive. Massive enough that the trees in the background are actually on top of it. Really need confirmation on this from more anons since it won't be an easy fix from what you already made there imo.
    >> Anonymous 02/12/10(Fri)18:17 No.33681
    >>33678

It's actually the top of an entrance to a 'cave' yeah. But that shouldn't matter much.
Only the trees on top need to be made, and the inside of the tunnel. And those need to connect to the 'bridge'.
    >> Anonymous 02/12/10(Fri)18:21 No.33683
    >>33678

Heh, go for it then! be sure to mark it first though.
And judging from your work, it's going to be quite the challenge too I think!
Keep in mind to use separate parts for stuff that's not completely attached, use some splines for the roots and stuff and you'll do fine, god speed!

The ones that are checked off are completed. Sections that are colored and numbered are already taken. If you want to take a section, you'll need to find part of the original image that's not colored and color it yourself, giving it a new id and uploading the new image.

    >> Anonymous 02/13/10(Sat)11:31 No.34242
    >>34236
I think you'll want to start with the geometry first. What you have there is more likely to be a texture for a sign that says 'youkoso' (ようこそ).

It's quite large, looking at it in the original image, so I think you're actually dealing with a fairly large structure here.

That said, if you did mean to do the sign alone, by all means...

Just to illustrate what I mean, here is some of what I'm seeing. I bled into some of the other buildings to show you where I can see some basic geometry.

It looks a bit like the front of a simple house; triangular toward the roof, squarish toward the base.

I darkened what I see as an inner area - you don't have to do this if you don't want to, but it's just to show you that there is depth to this structure.

So should I just get rid of the lettering and we'll worry about that when texturing comes along, or should I keep the lettering and leave the sign as is?

They are marking off parts of a 2D picture and generating 3D models based off the image. Once all the models have been created, they will spend a while merging them all, and getting the sizing/perspectives right. Once that is done, I guess they'll move onto texturing and lighting. Then you will get 23092209232093239 variations of the final render

I suggest you lengthen it a bit after the road column so it'd be easier to stick to 62.

Not a modelingfag here but shouldn't those edges be smoothed or something? All the circles seem quite rough in my opinion...

    READ THE DAMN THREAD ALREADY!!

I'm getting tired of this. What's colored is already taken, what's checked below is done. Want something? Then select from what's not already taken, meaning not colored, from the latest reference image posted and NOT from OP's, color it in your image editor and color of choice, set the transparency to 50%, then post it back here.

Hey everyone I'm the guy who did the last couple image re-edits color coding etc. Pretty sick of people asking for sections already allocated so might add instructions to the original image. Progress looks good. Should prolly get back to my 42

Well then I'll say it again since you might not have seen it in the previous threads. Anyway, I suggested uploading the archived threads there as well since it's the Collab folder. Need to mf 5 since it was just archived but the others are already up... without the missed thread 2 of course:

This is truly a noble idea. 2d artist here, best of luck to all those who commit. Is there a primitives file to work from, cuz this could turn into a huge clusterfuck once it comes time to piece it all together. Especially with those highways.
