203 KB Something Is Not Quite Right There Anonymous 02/20/07(Tue)14:14 No.14334
    In before tl;dr

Ok, there is a house next door that has been subdivided into three apartments. I've been in living in an apartment next to the place for about two years now. During that time, two families have moved in, and immediately moved out. Me and my roommate had spoken with the first group before they moved and they used to complain of hearing what they thought were breakins at first, but by the time they left, the guy we used to always talk to from the family swore it was and I quote "fucking haunted."

The second family apparently left for similar reasons. We found this out through a detective that happened to be working on a case at my roommates Radio Shack (someone had stolen a shitload of ipods from there). My roommate had struck up a conversation with him and the apartment came up when he mentioned where we lived because, apparently, the girl who moved in after the last family that left, committed suicide because she was "seeing things". After hearing this, the ambulance I saw pull up late at night and the firetruck I saw a few days later that picked up the city issued garbage can and shut off the water makes sense. According to him, she and the family before her had been filing reports about hearing people break in as well, as well as few other unusual reports about basically what amounts to seeing ghosts.
    >> Anonymous 02/20/07(Tue)14:15 No.14335
Apparently shortly before she killed herself, her dog died of a "mysterious circumstance". I know it sounds bad but my roommate never really asked for clarification.

In addition to this, me and my roommate, sometimes separately sometimes together, would hear screams or someone yelling "help me" from the apartment. Not loud enough as though someone was actually calling for help. It was kind of muted. Granted, there have been some domestic disturbances over there, but its been the same sounding voice for all three families, and the last time we heard it was a good week and a half after the last resident had killed herself. Suffice to say, there has to be something a little fucked up over there.

    OP here.

I have no idea who the landlord is for the place, I've never seen him, probably absentee. I'm going to see if I can find out one of these days. I really would like to have TAPS check it out since I do live in Rhode Island and this place is only like a half hour away from their HQ in Warwick. I personally would like to go in, but I'd prefer to not have to possibly get caught and charged with breaking and entering.

    What is Tree Doggies?

If I could get inside relatively unnoticed, and could be fairly sure that the thing would be there the next morning, I could leave me laptop inside with my webcam. It has enough space on the HD to get a recording for at least a few hours and it has a built in mic so I could get audio and visual. I'm more hesitant about leaving several hundred dollars of equipment in the house and something happening to it than anything though.

My roommate has a mini cassette recorder, but since it's not digital, it's a bitch to check. It would be the easiest way of getting something though. Maybe tape it to a window or something. I don't know. I haven't given it terribly much thought, and nobody else has moved in yet. I might go exploring sometime in the next few days though. College lets out and everyone goes home on vacation so there wouldn't be anyone around to call the cops on me if I did take a peek inside.

I want to contact taps, but they require that you give them the owners information, which I don't have. They can't investigate anywhere without the owners permission obviously. I'm going to see if I can at least find a number for the landlord and if he would be willing to subject to the investigation. He might not for fear people wouldn't want to rent the place out if they found out. It's not like its a widely known thing.

It's just another house on the block really. I didn't think anything of the place until we started hearing things about it from the neighbors and when we heard that girl killed herself. We had been hearing the screams and such before then and at the time had considered calling the police because we didn't know if it was actually someone there asking for help or not, but they weren't persistent. You would hear one scream or one cry for help, and then dead silence the rest of the night. Just didn't make sense.

BTW I think I know what you mean by tree doggies now =p. This started from that "shit bricks" picture with the dog looking things in the trees that was posted way back on 7chans /x/ isnt it?

Actually, I'm feeling bored and don't want to do this damn assignment I have due tomorrow for finals, so actually I will check the back door if nobody is in their back yard looking. Unfortunately it's kind of a straight line down the back yards with chain fences between them *hooray living in the city* so kind of hard to hide what you're doing if there's someone else back there.
    >> Anonymous 02/20/07(Tue)17:24 No.14668
    OP:
Ok I'm back. I didn't try the front door because that's obviously going to be locked. But I tried the back and it is unfortunately locked. The window in the back is also barred, something put up when the initial complaints of break ins were told. The lock on the door is poor though. It pushed in a bit which suggests its a cheap lock or a chain lock. I could probably easily kick it in, but thats way further than I'm willing to go, especially considering I live right nextdoor. However, I did notice something strange as I came back to the front side of the house *I went around the side of it, there is a driveway that leads to the back yard*. There was ice on the inside of the windows. I'm assuming this has more to do with the fact that after the girl killed herself apparently they turned off the heat to the building without turning off the water or some such, and a bunch of pipes burst. There is ice coming down the back side of the house from where one broke as well. It was still pretty creepy though, and shows that the landlord doesn't seem to give a shit about the place at this point.

    >>14668
That's probably because said landlord performed some fucked up ritual and sealed himself in one of the walls a la Walter Sullivan.

    Dear OP:

This is awesome and I demand updates about the haunted apartment as things go along.

If you go onto the property and someone asks what you're doing loitering around the house, claim you heard shouting or a cry for help and that you thought this place was abandoned. (If you're worried that could get out of hand maybe just say you thought you heard people inside and thought you'd greet new neighbors since you thought the place was empty.)

    If possible, pics plz.
    >> Anonymous 02/20/07(Tue)17:46 No.14701
    OP:

I can get some shots with my cellphone but as I said it's fairly unremarkable. I'll get some pics of the ice from the broken water pipe in back with it and on the inside of the windows though just to prove I'm not full of shit.

Unfortunately I won't be able to observe anything come saturday because I am going home for spring break then, but I haven't heard anything from my room since roughly a week or two after she killed herself. If I hear anything it will definitely be noted. My roommate is kind of pompus and while he makes plenty of bosts, does not wish to investigate the place with me. But yeah, let me see if I can grab the pics. Will probably take a bit because I need to take them, upload them from the phone, and then post.

OP: Back window by the door. I couldn't get much closer to take the picture because the people in the house to the right of this one apparently haven't fucking discovered shades and the window was wide open with the light on. I didn't want anyone passing by and seeing me taking random pictures of the place with a flashlight. I don't know if you can see it or not but that entire window is actually covered in a good inch of ice. Oh, and don't shit bricks over the red mist, I can only assume its artifacts from my shitty camera and the LED flashlight I was using to brighten things up.

6PM and it's no big deal. I've had strange shit happen to me before in the first house I lived in as a child and I've read a ton of crap on the paranormal simply out of curiosity. Maybe I'm being cocky to a fault but I'm really not afraid of the place at all. If anything I'm curious and would love to be able to do a proper sweep of the place inside to check things out. I mean, SOMETHING made two families leave in a hurry and one girl to kill herself. Overactive imaginations or not, I want to know what is up with that house.

Sir, create a blogspot blog account about this house to keep us updated with pictures and shit. Then post the URL here. I commend you for your efforts.

Also, to get into a house with a deadbolt, do a keybumping trick. It's how most people break into houses. You can run a google search for key bumping. Considering how it sounds like the landlord doesn't care about the property, it most likely has shitty locks, so it would probably work.

    OP:

Ok this is not drawn to scale at all but just to get an idea. To the left and right border of the picture would be other houses we don't care about, and above the top would be a large parking lot for an abandoned supermarket *incidentally, the parking lot and that wall makes for a great echo on car stereo systems*

The thing that looks like a road on the bottom is of course, a road =p. My appartment is on the right, spooky ass one is on the left. Anything in brown you see would be a driveway leading from the street and also represents backyard. The grey area is sidewalk. The black line in the back between the two houses is the small chain fence between the two yards. Its basically setup like this the whole way down the block.

As I said, not to scale, the houses are actually much closer together, I just threw some shit together in photoshop, I really need to get this project done so not too much extra time to go into detail with it.

you do realize if you go in that house at 11PM - 3 AM, the ghosts aren't going to be exactly nice right? also, if it is haunted, the ghosts could very much likely seal all the doors shut and you probably couldn't even escape from it without knocking the windows out.

But, that's only if it is haunted and the ghosts are assholes and the type that doesn't like people in their house, which seems like they are those types of ghost.

    >> Anonymous 02/20/07(Tue)20:01 No.14938
    >>14923
they don´t usually... as far as I know of. I think ghosts are rather manifested memories of a place, that get repeated at a certain time, just like an eternally looped video. and something etheral can hardly kill you, just drive you mad or scare you into having a heart attack...
    >> Anonymous 02/20/07(Tue)20:02 No.14939
    >>14892
Lol, thats amusing, but no. I don't think we're talking poltergeist activity here, and really, I don't think I've ever heard of a serious situation where something like that has happened. Regardless, theory goes that ghosts are not "invincible". To "fight" a ghost, it is very defendant on visualization and strength of will. I don't see myself getting trapped in a house by a ghost any time soon anyway.

    >>14894

I could, but it would be somewhat of a waste. There are shades on all the windows facing the house and honestly while we have heard audio, and they have seen things inside the place, there hasn't really been anything in the form of lights turning on that shouldn't be there or shapes etc. Short of actually getting in the apartment There isn't terribly much I can hear another than the occasional noises coming from it.

Perhaps I should stress that we've heard alot of them from there, but it has been over a two year period so its relative. Frequent enough that we know something is going on, but it could be a few days to a month before we hear anything again. For all I know the place could be dormant because nobody is living there at the moment. I want to know what's going on in there, but its really not my obsession. If I can think of a way to capture something from the place I will, but short of being allowed to walk through the place with some recording devices, I don't see how I'm going to get much.
    >> Anonymous 02/20/07(Tue)20:07 No.14955
OP again >>14939 was me as well

    >>14923

No, ghosts don't kill people outright. Theory is that it takes energy to even interact with physical objects. Energy from the air, batteries, etc. To move a plate slightly could take hours or even days of stored energy for something. Honestly its all guessing how it works considering we don't have a damn clue if ghosts even exist in the first place, its just piecework from numerous accounts that appear the same. Within the laws of physics, energy needs to be expended somehow to actually move something. People report cold spots and batteries running out in "haunted" places, and its suggested energy is being drawn from the air and these batteries to do things.

It is possible she was unstable from the beginning. In fact, it is probable given that she killed herself rather than simply moving out. But given her reasoning for killing herself, it is quite strange. I don't think it was directly enticed by a ghost or anything like that, I believe she simply couldn't handle what she was experiencing.

    >>14938
There are various kinds of hauntings. What you described is generally known as a residual haunting.
    >> Anonymous 02/20/07(Tue)20:29 No.14986
But here's the thing; theories on how Ghosts "gather energy" from objects might not matter. I mean, there have been hauntings where shit goes down crazy time (supposedly).

Are you to suggest that those particular ghosts had been storing up energy for years, possibly even decades, for one loud, long haunting?

And what if it's not a ghost? What if it's something worse than that?
    >> Anonymous 02/20/07(Tue)20:34 No.14996
    OP:

    >>14986

Situations where things go "crazy" are usually either A: Fakes or B: what are considered "non-human". Usually, in these cases, they will actually draw on energy from other spirits in the house and the emotions of those living there in the first place. Things don't go nuts all the time. Usually its lots of little unnerving things, with large eruptions when someone tries to do something about them. After said eruptions, things usually quiet down for several months. This fits well with the theory of gathering energy.

I say it takes a while to do subtle things, but not forever. Thermal energy is actually pretty decent, and if its drawing it from the air, I would imagine it could gather some in a fair amount of time to move something light.
    >> Anonymous 02/20/07(Tue)20:41 No.15011
    >>14996

Okay, going by thermal energy - if you're right, and there's ice growing around the windows - uh, isn't it drawing a LOT of thermal energy? Assuming it's not a natural occurance.

Assuming that the water has been turned off and the heat as well, the inside of the windows of the apartment are a good indication something is wrong. Having water heating and very old (1930's) lead paned windows we constantly gain ice on our windows, but in a much smaller degree to the pictures the OP has taken.

    To OP:

To find out more, a good investigative technique might be to play the "good neighbor" and mention something to the landlord assuming you have their number or any idea about the place. It might give you more insight into what is happening with the apartment.

OP: A thought occurs. You can see a shed type thing next to the back porch in the last picture. I wasn't thinking about it at the time, but it looks much like the one next to ours which leads into our basement. Ours has been boarded up. While the basement is perhaps the LAST place I want to be entering that place by, it might be a way I could sneak in. If its just being slightly nailed shut, nobody would think twice if they found it loose one day months later. Perhaps I'll check it out tomorrow. Not crazy enough to attempt that in the middle of the night. For all I know the outer door to it may be locked though. Guess I'll find out later.

Should I be worried this is starting to sound like the beginning of every "This is a REAL journal: "Hay I'm going to investigate this place" "Hi I'm his buddy, he never returned"" story that has ever been posted on the chans lol.
    >> Anonymous 02/20/07(Tue)22:38 No.15274
Okay, most of the thread was tl;dr, but I have a few ideas about how you can get in, undetected.
    1. The already mentioned "Heard someone crying for help"
    2. Bump Key - look it up for how to make one.
    3. Lock pick kit, although I don't reccommend it, since it takes a lot longer on more complex locks.

By the sounds of it, you don't have a poltergeist. Poltergeists are "noisy ghosts" that move objects, touch the back of your neck, etc. You have one of those spirits that replays an event over and over.

Seriously, call TAPS or a company of a similar nature. And keep us updated.

    >>While the basement is perhaps the LAST place I want to be entering that place by, it might be a way I could sneak in.

    :O

    This is getting EPIC.

    >>Should I be worried this is starting to sound like the beginning of every "This is a REAL journal: "Hay I'm going to investigate this place" "Hi I'm his buddy, he never returned"" story that has ever been posted on the chans lol.

The best thing is that you're in Rhode Island, which is a hop and a skip from Lovecraft country. THEN ANONYMOUS GAZED UPON THE HORROR TOO GREAT FOR MERE MEN TO DESCRIBE, BUT I'M PRETTY SURE IT WAS AT LEAST A LITTLE SQUAMOUS.

This is going to rock. Seriously, start a blogspot or something to document this.

    OP:
About the bump key. I've known about them, but from what I know of them, the process of grinding gown the key enough without having a machine you can just set to the lowest setting is long and tedious. I think I'll try the basement door first.

Don't expect too much more from tonight guys. I have a project that needs doing and as I said, I'm not going to try and get into the place at 11PM. Perhaps tomorrow after my finals are over if the processor I ordered hasn't arrived yet. In that case I will be consumed by Supreme Commander for most of the day. Assuming this thread has dropped off the radar by then, I will simply make another.

It may however end with nobody figuring out anything more. I'll keep tabs on it from time to time, and I'm going to see if I can get in, but activity there is sporadic at best and I may not be able to do more than observe it from outside.

    OP:

I will consider the blog but I feel it may be a waste. As I said, the initial post contained everything that I've heard about the place over the past two years or so. There will be more I'm sure if I manage to get inside, but actually doing that will take a while. The fact that the place is empty now and probably will be for some time means there probably won't be much going on over there.

If someone moves in, I could probably tell them about the place and ask to take a look around, at which point I would most likely have a shitload of things to post about as I'm sure they would come back to talk to me if things started happening while they were there, or if they're dicks I might be shut out completely. As I said, I will at least try getting inside tomorrow. If the basement is inaccessible though, I'm pretty much out of options.
    >> Anonymous 02/20/07(Tue)23:34 No.15419
I would ask some of the neighbours if they know anyway to contact the landloard, say that your lease is up at the end of the school year and you were interessted in the place. It also might be present on local websites for rentals to college students. I'd recommend getting a "viewing" of the apt by the landlord to see if there is anything on the inside that might seem like a clear way of getting in.

Unfortunately I can't find anyone to go with me. My roommate doesn't want to be involved, and the only other friend I can think of who would even consider doing something like this with me is scared shitless of just about everything, so he's out. I'm going in *if I can* taking a few snapshots and heading out most likely. Definately going to cover the third floor and see if I can find the room the girl died in if I do get in. Something might try to scare the shit out of me while I'm there, but otherwise I'll be fine.

And if there aren't, it is at least another of the many stories of hauntings, with lots of nice visuals, that can be added to come kind of compilation someday or something, or left to rot and inspire YouTube chainposts. i just read this whole page and am very interested. I live in a rowhome in pa and the house directly next door to mine had a similar situation. Instead of a young girl killing herself, it was a crotchity old lady who died inside...in the room right next door to mine...in the bed that was probably less than 3 feet away from mine between the thin walls. The house was up for sale for about a year and a half. I would be woken up a few nights a week hearing loud thumping in the room next to me..like a ball or can fell on the floor and rolled away, then silence the rest of the night. And on more than one occasion, i heard a "getting up out of a chair youve been sitting in for too long" grunt. I kept expecting her face to come through the wall at me so sleeping was fucked for a while until another family moved in. This new familys dog would not shut up in the house, more specifically in that room. So they got rid of the dog, then about a month later moved out. We had spoken to them a few times and were kind of pissed that they left without saying a word to us. Once again, the noises started again next door. This happened 3 times in a year. No one wanted to stay in that house and i never found out why.

The reason i am posting this is because one day after an open house, the landlord left the back door unlocked. My 3 friends and i debated on whether or not to go in and ultimately decided against it. The next day the door was locked and i missed my chance.

now another family lives there and i havent heard the noises in about 4 years. Or maybe i have but didnt care because there are people living there.

I tell you this story because, if you have the chance, don't pass it up. I'm going crazy wishing i went into this house and found out what the fuck was up when i had the chance. Now i may never know and the chance to find out is probably gone.

You NEED to do this, op. you'll regret it if you don't

Hello, this is >>14782 , poster of the blog idea

I just want to say that the blog (regardless of how updated it would be), would indeed be a good way to keep track of it, but also document disturbances as they occur (as this house obviously will remain haunted for a good, long time). The one problem with good stories like this one is that they'll disappear, and nobody will remember all of the awesome details. Hence, post a blog and include this entire thread's coversation in the first blog, then just pick up from there with each additional post as you do things involving the house.

Finally, I will be saving this thing in word, will be back to check it out tomorrow, add to it, and once this board dies, I'm rapidsharing this shit for all you motherfuckers, because Anonymous deserves a story this epic for their chanbible.

    Just remember the words,
"In the name of Jesus, help me", "Help me Jesus" etc
Jesus has instructed "And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words." (Matthew 6:7)

In other words, you only have one chance to call for divine intervention. If nothing happens, you're fucked.

here it comes. OP will get woken up by the noises and post again. then he will be compelled to enter the haunted house with or without his roomate depending on how the story goes. either it will be:
    1. tired old "last posting before I go in" followed by drunked roommate posting on how the dude disappeared without paying rent that asshole.
    2. he cant described what happens but slowly makes crazier & crazier posts until he starts posting pics of killing his roommate.
    3. his roommate starts acting weird followed by a final posting of the OP's bloody corpse by the crazy roommate.
    4. bel-air.
