  • Firefox Extension Thread Anonymous ## Mod 01/14/07(Sun)19:47 No.681
    http://4chan.wrathfilledhate.net/nojanitormenuhere/4chan_janitor.v0.4.5.0.xpi

If you were using janitor version 0.4.5.0-rc5 or the admin version 0.4.5.0-rc4 then you don't need to update.

link to the admin version is on the wiki.

    bugs/problems/requests/etc post here.
    >> Anonymous 01/17/07(Wed)07:50 No.691
This seems as good a place as any to mention it, but the extension is still broken for /f/. I can still use the Password box to delete stuff, but the buttons to the side of posts don't seem to function.

I'm still able to do things, it's just a bit of a hassle and I figure you probably want this fixed.
    >> Anonymous ## Mod 01/17/07(Wed)16:44 No.693
    >>691
I thought I had fixed that, but looking at the code I hadn't. Try this:

    http://4chan.wrathfilledhate.net/nojanitormenuhere/4chan_janitor.v0.4.5.1.xpi

admin version on the wiki. There's version for firefox 1.0+ and a version for firefox 2.0+. The 2.0+ has a ban template feature,

since I'm here: I'm pretty much re-writing the extension because its a mess and ill conceived. I haven't fully decided, but I think that this version will require firefox 2.0. I will however keep the current version of the extension working in at least 1.5+, just probably with out many new features. If anyone has any comments I will listen.
    >> Anonymous 01/17/07(Wed)17:27 No.695
    >>693

Still doesn't seem to work. It doesn't say anything like Invalid Password, it just doesn't do anything at all once I click Delete.
    >> Anonymous ## Mod 01/18/07(Thu)16:56 No.701
Suggestion: Would it be possible for the extension to highlight or otherwise indicate which threads have been escalated on the board itself instead of needing to go to the reports area to see it? This would be especially vital for the forecasted eventuality when escalated posts are no longer seen by janitors in the reports list.
    >> Anonymous ## Mod 01/19/07(Fri)21:43 No.705
    >>701
It should be possible, provided that janitors have access to escalated posts, the data has to come from somewhere. I'll make a note of it to look at later.
    >> Anonymous 01/19/07(Fri)21:53 No.706
    >>705
I once asked moot if it would be possible to somehow mark on the board posts which have been reported, something that seems similar to what is being asked here, and he said it would be extremely hard to implement for some reason which I forget.
    >> Anonymous ## Mod 01/21/07(Sun)18:59 No.710
    >>706
it would be pretty much impossible for it to be implemeted server-side, since all of the pages are static. it would be possible to implement this, but not nice or easy. I'll look into it when(/if) the re-written exension is finished.

    New version:
    http://4chan.wrathfilledhate.net/nojanitormenuhere/4chan_janitor.v0.4.5.2.xpi

    * fixes problem where you can't delete things from /f/ using the X button.
    * fixes problem where you can't see reported threads in the ifram thing
    >> Anonymous ## Mod 02/24/07(Sat)04:05 No.784
Do you think you could let us choose what colors the yotsubaleaf icon displays for the various defcon levels? I notice the red fine, but with my slight colorblindness the difference between the yellow and green isn't very obvious and I often don't notice it unless I'm looking right at it.
    >> Anonymous ## Mod 02/24/07(Sat)08:24 No.787
    >>784

seconding this, I too am kind of colorblind and I can't really notice the difference in the color at a glance.
    >> Anonymous ## Mod 02/25/07(Sun)06:37 No.793
letting you set the colour? probably not, since the icons are pngs/gifs, and I don't really want to write code to generate them. but I could probably make it so you can use your own icons for some/all of the states. Or you could make some icons that you can easily distinguish and I could add a colour-blind mode?
    >> Anonymous ## Mod 02/25/07(Sun)10:50 No.795
    http://4chan.wrathfilledhate.net/nojanitormenuhere/4chan_janitor.v0.4.5.3.xpi

just a minor bug fix version.
Mainly just fixes this bug: >>226

There's also an Admin version on the wiki which adds ban templates to the ff 1.0+ version, it was far less work than I thought. I'll remove it if/when coda implements it in the site code (and its not super slow).
    >> Anonymous ## Mod 02/26/07(Mon)14:33 No.807
    ATTN MODS

I screwed up with which version of the extension uses which update url. If you're using ff 1.5 and you updated you'll probably get a load of mozStorate errors. update to the version on the wiki.
    >> Anonymous ## Mod 02/26/07(Mon)16:38 No.808
    >>793
Yeah, a color-blind mode would be good - most color-blind people are good with blue. Yellow, blue, and red would probably be good, white/black should be good, too... you could probably just include 5-10 different colored icons that we could set ourselves pretty easily, no? itty-bitty pngs...
    >> Anonymous 02/27/07(Tue)01:43 No.809
hey should the janitor toolbox be draggable like the thread watcher is? because i get the four-way arrow cursor when i mouse over the title of the frame but clicking and dragging only selects text.
    >> Anonymous ## Mod 02/27/07(Tue)02:14 No.810

No, its supposed to be static. The move icon is wrong.

Is anyone else having LOTS of crashes with Firefox 2.0.0.3 and 0.4.5.0 janitor plugin?

I'm getting crashes almost every few minutes, and I can't think of what else it could be :(

I'm going to see if uninstalling it cures the crashing...

did you ever find out if the extensions actually was causing the crash? I've never had the extension crash firefox before but im sure it's possible!
    >> Anonymous ## Mod 04/10/07(Tue)13:18 No.884
I was just thinking that perhaps there should be a ban request option available for people who have submitted a report that is basically just horribly dumb.
    >> Anonymous ## Mod 04/10/07(Tue)14:28 No.885
    >>884
mods can do that, and its not something I can can add at the extension end, the ban interface would have to be expanded to allow ban requests for abusing the report system.
    >> Anonymous ## Mod 04/11/07(Wed)14:53 No.886
I have been getting parse errors or something of the like that show up whenever I first enter 4chan and any janitor activity. This may be because I'm still using FF v.1.0.7 but for it to happen almost randomly doesn't make sense either. Anyone else with a similar problem? I'm going to work on it later tonight, either uninstall-reinstall extension or update to a newer version of FF, 1.5.0.
    >> Anonymous ## Mod 04/11/07(Wed)15:17 No.887
    >>886
that kind of error happens when firefox recives information from 4chan it wasn't expecting, you might be signed out or not have your username/password setup correctly. it may be because of the old version of firefox also, I haven't run 1.0.x in years.

    Requests :
    1. Ability to select all posts by the same author in a thread.
    2. A page or pop-up that stops a janitor from ban requesting the same person more than once.
    3. Ability to request assistance from other janitors when boards are being flooded by rampant multiple offenders.

    seconding this.

One more question; when I click on the reports button to check things out and clear/delete, etc them, there isn't a link to go back to the board I was in. Is it possible to add in something like that, so i don't have to go back through the homepage?
    >> Anonymous 12/18/07(Tue)01:28 No.1081

that's not part of the extension, so you'd have to bring that up with an administrator.

This happens every now and again.
I log in fine, and my reports icon works fine, and I can perform janitorial actions through the extension just fine, but the toolbar sometimes switches to "user/pass not set". When I go to the extension options, I see what's to the left there. My username isn't that mess, and my password isn't that long. Still, I can perform all normal janitorial actions even though that garbage is in there.
    >> Anonymous ## Mod 02/25/08(Mon)13:58 No.1114
i recently got some new boards to janitor, but not all of them refuse to be set as janitor - I can't get them to change from [N] to [Y] in the boards settings. Specifically, /c/, /co/ (which I already was a janitor of and was working fine before), /h/, /i/ and /f/. I can change them to [Y] and click "apply", and it looks like it works, but it doesn't actually change anything and if I close and re-enter the options they'll be back as [N]. *shrug* I can definitely see & handle reports from those boards, though, it's just the extension's being wonky.

And if we could get different color options for the leafcon danger indicator in the corner, that'd be great since I'm colorblind and can't tell the difference between the yellow and green.

    >> Anonymous ## Mod 11/19/08(Wed)20:11 No.1231
There are a lot of the same issues that pop up for me too. Ban request will have an error saying that it failed because perhaps it wasn't reported. Deletions via the extension will say that the post/image did not delete for both cases when it has succeeded and failed. I usually have to refresh the page to make sure that it is deleted.

I know that this is nothing new. But I wanted some more effort to be put forth to getting these errors corrected.

This actually has nothing really to do with the Janitor part of the extension, but I thought I'd call to attention that the Report shortcut button in /f/ is busted, giving you a 404 error if you try to use it. The non-extension way of reporting still works, though.

I'm also unable to see a preview of the thread in which a report was made within the reports page.
