87 KB Request Threads (and other /co/ questions) Anonymous ## Mod 03/06/07(Tue)13:50 No.825   [Reply]
Alright, so... there are these threads popping up now calling themselves "request threads", and I'd like to ask about them. Of course normal requests are always against the rules and I take swift action against those. But, I wanted to know whether something like these so called "request threads", where someone offers to fill requests, should also be deleted. People seem to like them plenty, and if they were well used they'd probably help keep requests from shitting all up the board. Then again, I guess they should just make something like this in /r/ in the first place.

Also, I don't think I can delete this just because people are sharing copyrighted US material like comics, because there's this wierd "comic book fag" clause on /co/ (approved by moot) where we let them post comics if they want to.

My current policy is "delete". Official ruling?
    >> Anonymous ## Mod 03/06/07(Tue)14:19 No.826
You can post licensed content in /co/? that seems pretty dumb. I've been banning any "licensed content" reports that show up in /co/, like anywhere else on the site.

If I'd seen a thread like that I would delete, and maybe ban for it. But maybe I'm not supposed to!

Note that general requests are sometimes okay, if they post good and relevant content with it and aren't being dicks.
    >> Anonymous ## Manager 03/08/07(Thu)19:26 No.832

Actually I said RapidShare/MegaUpload threads were alright (so long as I'm not getting complaints).

If there is one large request thread running at any given time, it's not a big deal. Just make sure there aren't ten different ones all requesting different things--keep it in one place.

    >>833
    roger that
    >>826
Yeah, if it's a general request for, say, "post some daffy duck pictures" and they post a picture themselves, I've viewed that as fine & dandy.

I do delete & ban request on any sort of "post the newest issue of 'batman beats up the joker' please" or whatever, though.

For the past month now I've been seeing an increase in threads with links to youtube. Sometimes these threads link to movie related stuff like behind the scenes footage, interviews etc. But now and then its some fat kid and his friends with a camera.
They range from parodies to amateur films made by college students. I delete most of these threads but sometimes they look for feedback, which is okay i guess as it is film related but they have youtube for that.
So what do I delete all threads that contain links to youtube or just the ones made be amateur directors?
    >> Anonymous ## Manager 03/08/07(Thu)19:24 No.831
if the video being linked to is in no way related to television, delete it.

Over the past couple days, I've been getting an occasional illegal report from /b/ showing up on my panel, though I clearly do not janitor /b/ (thank god, I'd be at my computer desk the rest of my life).

Does anyone else notice this? Is the problem known by the powers that be?

If I get this error: "RPC Error: Cannot find record." everytime I ban request something illegal on /b/ does it mean that someone else has already deleted/ban requested it before me?

Its strange because I always get there just in time to miss being able to ban request if thats the case.

    >>821
i sometimes get the same error when i delete/ban request through /reports/ and i know i'm the only janitor on my board. so it may be the case that someone else got it before you or it could be some bug that hasn't been ironed out.

    Oh, that's probably me. lols.

I know this is for all boards, but it seems that it's been exclusively /b/ that has gotten illegal reports of all the times I've seen the flashing red button.
    >> Anonymous 03/07/07(Wed)00:31 No.828
    >>824
that's probably because /b/ is one of the more active boards. and there are plenty of people viewing that board that don't want to see CP. that's probably why it's always /b/ with the illegal reports.

i get illegal reports on my own board, but there's usually only 1 report and i get to it before it has had a chance to be reported 3 or more times.

So, what would you do in THIS situation?

My first instinct is to just delete it out of hand. Sure, technically there's no nipple or genitals or anything like that making it not worksafe. The nature of the pic, though, especially with the girl's young age, makes me pretty hesitant about it. Then again, there weren't any complaining replies, so it seems the board didn't mind... except for the two reports.

Anyway, while I was typing up this post, it's been deleted. I figure I may as well still post this, though.
    >> Anonymous ## Janitor 02/26/07(Mon)10:13 No.803
If it's supposed to be a work safe board (granted, none of 4chan is work safe) I'd delete it. The image is purposely edited sexual content which seems to be deleted from most other boards.
    >> Anonymous 02/26/07(Mon)11:19 No.804
I have asked mods about this before. Even if nothing is explicitly showing, if two people are having sex in an image, it is not worksafe and should be removed.
    >> Anonymous ## Mod 02/26/07(Mon)13:47 No.805
delete it as the pic itself is non-worksafe.
    >> Anonymous ## Mod 02/26/07(Mon)14:08 No.806
Delete it, because if you were caught looking at that during work, you'd probably get in trouble.

Also ban request that grieving jew dick because that shit's annoying.

So today I tried to join the /v/ IRC channel but typoed and accidentally typed:

    /join #/b/

And the next thing I know, I'm K-lined. I went to appeal it, the guy said the ban was gone, and now when I connect it says connection refused. How badly did I fuck up?

Well I honestly have no idea, maybe you should talk to the person who said your ban was lifted and that'll help you get back on IRC.

hah, I was curious to see if this would happen to me aswell, and it did. I have not visited /b/'s channel in ages, so I can't have done something offensive.

First off why are you assuming that that channel is associated with 4chan in any way? It's not part of /b/ and its not part of 4chan. going to #/b/ will automatically kline you from rizon because #/b/ was a horrible channel and everyone there was an idiot who caused problems for everyone. DO NOT GO THERE.

Wow I had no idea that there was an auto-kline for that, thanks for the heads up.

The more I have this job, the more I want to find where every last one of them live and... you know.

Take this post, made two hours after someone posts a request with no related image in the middle at 1am.
    >i wish this board had some mods that spent time on it that or at least some active janitors to clean away all these trash requests even if they cant ban they'd still be gone...too bad i didn't get selected oh well too bad so sad so we'll sage till the cows come home.

Maybe if he did this job, he'd realize that Janitors aren't robots who can monitor boards 24/7 and delete bad posts in under two hours in the dead of the night. Takes every fiber of my being not to say something back to them.

Post your user-related annoyances here so we can all laugh. LAUGH.

modifyng the report system to treat us special is probably low on the list of things to change around here. besides, if one of us spots something serious on a board we don't janitor, we should bring it up in the IRC channel. the chances of us getting the proper janitor's attention or a mod's attention by setting off a highlight is greater than just hoping they see the leaves turn yellow/red.

    69 KB Midna in /h/ Anonymous 01/14/07(Sun)20:14 No.684   [Reply]
Lately, there have been a lot of posts (usually requests, tbh) for pics of Midna from Twilight Princess over on /h/, and almost always with this image (second result on GIS if you're interested). These always erupt into arguments of is she/isn't she furry. Those who claim she isn't say that she's no different from a catgirl or a Mithra from FFXI, just that she looks a little weirder. I've been deleting them because they're either requests or flamebait, but I was wondering what the rest of you thought, or if I could get an official ruling on the matter.

not furry. do NOT make ban requests for this and simply label them 'furry,' i will be honest in saying i hardly ever check the validity of a janitor's ban request and always ban for furry. midna is awesome. she's not an animal-derived humanoid, nor does she have fur. she's just a weird colored/shaped humanoid, and a cute one at that. i understand that probably the only places on 4chan she fits are /b/ and /d/, but she's not furry. thanks.

yeah that's kind of a horrible idea
    >> Anonymous ## Manager 02/05/07(Mon)14:52 No.723
Presently the debate of weither or not midna is furry is going on everywhere in the whole world and an answer isnt yet reached.

It's been established that midna porn is not allowed outside /b/ and /d/ so let me clarify a few things.

If we examine most of the art we'll probably notice things:

    1. Most midna porn is drawn in a style typically associated with furry artwork.
this is the main reason the debate is going on.
    2. Negative reception on /d/
This is kind of up in the air. A few people have seen good reception of the art while others, including me, have seen a mostly negative reception.
    3. DOGFUCKING
I'm not sure how common this is but I've seen it a lot. This in itself is against /d/'s rules

for now we're deleting midna porn in /d/ due to those reasons but we arent banning the users who post it.
