    7 KB spoilers? Anonymous 10/21/06(Sat)21:41 No.281   [Reply]
Due to several recent threads in /a/, I've started wondering if I should start deleting unmarked spoilers. I've been letting them go so far, but it IS in the rules.

If I should start deleting them, then I have to wonder what constitutes a spoiler worthy of deletion. Does it only apply to new series? Major plot points? Details? (ie, if someone makes it vague enough that you'd have to know what is being spoiled to even know that it was a spoiler, would that count?)

Well you should delete unmarked spoilers, even with old series. If I were to search for some kickass anime (even if old and I haven't watched it) and I would see something that would have impact on the anime I want to watch, for example a whole new model in gundam that reveals itself later in the story, then yes it would be a disappointment.

Then again if this occurs quite a lot, you could try making a thread under Anonymous in /a/ asking people to mark spoiled content. If it's getting quite frustrating (Excessive threads about spoilers for example) I would suggest talking to one of the moderators, deleting threads over and over will get frustrated by janitors and anonymous alike, letting a mod know about it, and making a thread there stickied about marking spoilers would surely solve the problem :)

Rapidshared comics on /co/ Anonymous ## Mod 10/19/06(Thu)00:10 No.253   [Reply]
People have been posting many rapidshared (copyrighted) comics on /co/ for some time. Since becoming a janitor and getting the OK from moot, I've been deleting most of them. If it's really old, or really obscure, or especially both, I often let it go. Or if they just link to a torrent, I think that's technically okay. Or, if it's not a full comic but a collection of pictures or something, I leave that alone, so it's not like "no rapidshares of anything" is a good rule.

This is all well and good... but since there are no rules for /co/, the users are left wondering what's going on. Apparently, there was a previous sticky telling them that brand new comics are okay to post, which I frankly find insane, as new comics are some of the MOST legally risky.

I'd kinda like a new sticky re-affirming to the users that posting entire works is not okay, and their posts will be deleted, just so they know what's up. Or we could even go really crazy and write out some rules.

I would argue that, while the uploads may give some cause for concern, the trolling that goes on is far worse. The constant arguing over Avatar, furrydom, etc. is far more harmful to the board as a whole. If actual rules for /co/ are ever drafted, I'd reaffirm that one in particular.

Differences between fanservice porn and cheesecake is not a few tiny black rectangles. Subject matter shown has to be taken into consideration beyond the need to fap in a worksafe board.

Good deal on getting that updated, I'm sure janitors would like to give advice if needed.

Still if the rules are outdated, it should be common sense for users that 4chan is a community and not a warez site. I would say a link to full copyrighted material should be deleted straight away.

As for torrents I'd leave most people to their own judgement, I don't see janitors/mods downloading 4 gigs just to see if it's illegal, if there is a post with a torrent link and the user added textinfo related to something illegal I'd just delete the whole post.

I know I would like to delete barely censored porn in /a/, but I don't know how others feel about this.
