481 KB Janitor Extension bug and request Anonymous ## Mod 11/15/09(Sun)14:46 No.1405   [Reply]
When a post is reported, and I request a ban, after the ban is requested, if I had sorted the report list by a specific board (viewing only /g/ for example) the list defaults back to "all" instead of /g/ after the ban is requested.
When deleting posts, the list works fine, and returns me to the board I'd narrowed the search to.

Also, could the extension be modified to allow janitors to request a ban on non-reported posts? I see a LOT of posts that should get users banned, in spite of nobody having reported the massive amounts of crap on some boards, and the janitor extension doesn't even allow us to report a thread or post if we janitor that board. This lack of ability to request a ban on any post on a board seriously hinders our ability to do our jobs.

All the users in s, and hc when it was still here, thought that the mods/admins were actually sponsoring the spam. The attitude kinda died off, but it was a fight for a while.

    misinformation is a reason?
    a good reason?
I really don't see how the paranoia of people who avidly follow a board like /hc/ has anything to do wiith this request.

it was a response to the person above me. The frustration with the spam, you know, that keeps popping up and won't go away? The fact that i can't ban request people who aren't reported, so all i can do is delete?

and hc is dead now, in case you haven't noticed.

or, specifically, the spam bots are spamming CP all over the place, and I can't ban request them for posting CP? in s, even worse that hc is gone, and people are assuming that because the spam keeps popping up, we're actually sponsoring it? It may not be a problem for you or your board, but it's a huge issue here. Do you really want half the users running around thinking that we like the spam, and want to give people viruses?

I would STILL like to be able to ban request trolls and non-bot morons who like to continue to post things like image macros, "nigger this" and "nigger that," and so forth, without having to wait for someone with a soul and half a brain to report the idiots. This is the majority of what I end up deleting, and most of it is by the same idgits, who continue to repost the shit as soon as it's deleted.

the following text is being spammed throughout /g/ relentlessly, being posted 3, 5, or more times PER thread.. Its getting really old, really fast.

Can someone set up a word filter on a phrase in thise copypasta, to prevent these faggots from pasting it over and over with this same retard image shown every time?

"I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you're refering to as Linux, is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I've recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux. Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX.

Many computer users run a modified version of the GNU system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of GNU which is widely used today is often called "Linux", and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the GNU system, developed by the GNU Project.

There really is a Linux, and these people are using it, but it is just a part of the system they use. Linux is the kernel: the program in the system that allocates the machine's resources to the other programs that you run. The kernel is an essential part of an operating system, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a complete operating system. Linux is normally used in combination with the GNU operating system: the whole system is basically GNU with Linux added, or GNU/Linux. All the so-called "Linux" distributions are really distributions of GNU/Linux."

lately I've been opening too many tabs care of while taking care of reports, but I noticed a feature for this plugin:

    http://firefox.exxile.net/aios/index.php

I just figured it'd be a good idea to share this with the rest of /j/

Also I have report links for my primary and secondary boards by using the drop-down menu >>1402 mentioned.

also, the sidebar plugin works for Firefox 3.0-3-5 and Flock 2.0

If anyone's checked out a few /co/ reports now and then, you probably know who this asshole is.
    What does he do?
He reports as well as trolls every Wakfu related thread, claiming they belong in /a/ and so on. The Wakfu art style does look a bit Animu, but the series started in France.
    Abusing reports? Yes.
Earlier tonight on /co/ he claimed he was "an unstoppable force" (gosh is it 1998 with scriptkiddies again?) and he somehow knows a janitor personally (also implied intimately, but I'm willing to bet that's just bs)

It's not only Wakfu he flames, pretty much any cartoon that has anime overtones.

Also I am not sure if this has any relevance, but I think it's worth mentioning: he also boasts he is auto-banned from +4chan's /co/ related boards.

So I guess the tl;dr is: fuck this guy.

also at one point he said he used to be tripfag "Trevor Misery Creed", though I don't know if there is any truth to that, or anything he says.
    >> Anonymous ## Manager 10/13/09(Tue)22:10 No.1359
This individual is permanently banned and should be reported if seen again. It is doubtful that any janitor is currently aiding him in the removal of legitimate /co/ threads (yes, wakfu is legit!), but if it turns out to be true it must stop immediately.

The (in)frequent complaints of ROUGE JANITOR ACTIVITY is troubling; treat your post with care and follow the direction of the board. Deleting legitimate threads is harmful and will lead to your removal from the janitor program.

Most such reports are people whining about threads against the rules being deleted and them either not agreeing with the rule or stating it's not explicitly in the rules.

It would help considerably, though, if some were spelled out. For example, the exclusion of Western Art in /e/. Some people are unaware that /e/ is considered an off-shoot board of /h/ and many of the same rules of that board apply in /e/. So someone ends up posting Western Art in /e/, and when it's deleted, there's an outcry of "THERE'S NO RULE AGAINST IT". This could be solved by adding a line in the /e/ rules and other such "offshoot" boards saying "All rules in (parent board) apply here".

Also, it might be prudent to, instead of stating in /r/ rules that "All requests go here", put in the global rules that no requests are allowed outside of /r/ (without contributions).

It seems that it's gotten into a group of users from /b/ that it would be a good idea to spam /e/ to get to one million posts. So if you have access to, please do give it a bit more attention over the next few days.

Does the board's software differentiate between a topic deleted by the user himself and a topic deleted by a mod/janitor? There is a waiting period between creating topics, but I'm guessing that if a user's recent topic is deleted, he is free to make a new one right away. It makes sense, but sometimes I will delete a BAD TOPIC and the user will make it again five seconds later. And again. And again.

I requested that 4chan immediately ban an IP that has had three or more posts deleted by any janitor and then have a mod investigate to see if the ban should be lifted or extended.

Pic related. I've noticed this a lot in /co/ recently, another one is "gunnershit fail" for example, and now constant reposts of Hazel (from Sword in the Stone) threads. This shit happens 3-4 times a day.

So what's the best course of action for forced memes? Normally I would think ban request but I thought it'd be something worth discussing here.

I don't know if this is the best place to do so, but it is sometimes difficult to get a hold of the proper people in IRC, so I figured that making a thread would provide a more permanent location for this.

Anyway, I was thinking that we could post all the spam links that we keep on seeing on our boards in this thread, so that the staff could have a definitive list of material to blacklist. I'll start with one that has been bothering /c/ for the past few days:

The posts always say "video clip :" accompanied by a link. In the most recent instance, "http://urlmr.com/S302". If there is any way to filter this (I think the links are always urlmr.com) it would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

We need to start doing entire thread bans for blatant obvious trolls (for /v/ at least..see: nigba and lanced jack)

this is the only way people are going to learn now to 250 post threads that they post. Put up a sticky, and when people start getting 3 day bans for replying to either of them, they'll stop posting in their threads.

i posted here because not everyone goes to IRC, but everyone will be able to see this. so, here.
