/tv/ is slowly becoming the new /n/ews. With threads about the latest presidential debate to McCain's daughter. The election is coming closer and closer and the number of threads are on the rise.
Could someone please have a sticky to remind people that /tv/ is not /n/ews

and also a nice little reminder that /s/ is not /r/, jailbait is still underage and isn't allowed, and a warning to those anonymous' pretending to be board moderators that they are not.

been having some board troll issues. Can you tell? :)

We could do with a reminder to go to /r/ in /h/ as well. Lots of people have been forgetting that one, usually resulting in me having to delete half the board.

another add on: that posting peoples personal information, such as email, phone number, social security number (!!!) and IP address are NOT ALLOWED!!
    >> Anonymous 02/15/09(Sun)14:00 No.1242
To use the thread for a common theme here, Id like to request a sticky for /h/. Can we remind people that posing a single image, with a rapidshare link is not acceptable? There has been an increasingly large number of people trying to use /h/ to whore up files they've uploaded to rapidshare, or advertise their shitty site. /h/ is an imageboard, not a linkdump and i think some people just aren't clear on that.

Seen this in /d/ lately as well. I fail to see the use in mass dumping links especially when they fail to even add descriptions or previews...

    Hello,

can we please have some sort of "mild auto-ban" that prevents users - who have more than 5 ban requests pending - from posting until a mod reviews the ban-request?

I am suggesting that a feature be implemented so I can ban request UNIQUE IPs and thus not just "ban requesting every post of an invasion."
    >> Anonymous 11/08/08(Sat)01:45 No.1222
    >>1221
Even then, though, ban requesting isn't an ideal way to deal with an invasion since it depends too heavily on mods actually looking at the ban requests. If they're not, ban requesting would be no better at stopping an invasion than deleting would be.

Janitors just aren't equipped to deal with invasions and the like, and I'm not sure we're meant to be. Getting the attention of someone who IS equipped to deal with it is about the most effective strategy we have.

    Ding ding ding!

Flag the board and delete the spam. Stop issuing tons ban requests--it does absolutely nothing if nobody is active, except flood the queue with junk. The only persons equipped to address a large-scale flood are MrVacBob and myself.

    >>1216
    >I get the feeling it's probably the same people doing it over and over again, since it's usually the same types of threads, so anything to stop them for a few minutes would be greatly appreciated.

What? The vast majority of these floods are done by bots/"viruses". The mods, for the most part, are just as ineffective against these types of attacks.

Yeah, I cringe when I see 600 ban requests on one IP. My fellow janitor brethren need to calm down on the request ban button in my opinion.

Since you can access this board, I will assume that you have all the proper credentials to enter in the irc channel... also, I ask in the irc channel for the janitor extension a bunch of times before...

are certain words set to instaban in /b/? I posted something along the lines of "people are so butthurt about this image" and got banned for "Spamming" even though it was my first post in like 3 days.

    Any help over here mods?

    Thanks.

this should probably be taken to IRC..it's not really janitor related at all..you can still delete illegal reports in /b/ while still being banned, afaik.

You can't report posts though, which is somewhat important for janitors. However the ban has probably expired anyway.

Can we make posting links to this site bannable? Every thread they start turns into complains of adware on their site, and that their content is easily available on rapidshares. An example of a thread like this is >>>/h/1270885.html

I'm curious about how to deal with these posters. For people not familiar with /co/, they're two role-playing posters that don't nessecarily break the rules, but they irritate a lot of the posters. I'd think it would be a good idea to ban them, but they haven't actually broken any rules.

Can I ask for one for Wyatt Creed? He's been spamming Witch and Winx Club threads for months now and a lot of people are sick of them, since they usually consist of random screencaps. No real purpose to them except to piss people off, it seems.

seconding that his posts tend to cause nothing but drama. might necessitate another banning of his name/trip rather than just banning him, though - he might not be a troll.

Fun fact: Wyatt Creed IS Misery/Ruby Gloom, just a different name.

On Saturday, Nickelodeon will be showing the last 4 episodes of Avatar: The Last Airbender back to back. Avatar has quite a big following on /co/, to the point where it's easily one of the most popular shows on the board, but there's also a lot hate for it, due to people - deliberately or not - spamming threads about it all the time. Having a sticky for those episodes - possibly with a proviso that any Avatar talk not in the threads will be deleted, to appease those not in love with the show - would do a lot to keep both sides of the argument. Avatar's been a big part of /co/ since its opening, and the final episodes will be a big event for the board, so one way or another, there will be a lot of talk about the finale. A sticky would go a long way to keeping things tidier and happier around the board.

There has been lots of trolling and a huge influx in gear threads in /p/ lately. The users speak out against the shitty posts, so I've been deleting, but it's evident that the users aren't using the report function.

Could we get a sticky or at least a post by a mod or admin reminding them to report shitty posts? Would really help me keep the board better rather than having to go find the bad posts and report them to myself since the delete buttons aren't working.

tl;dr Could a mod or admin plz tell /p/ users to use the report function?
    >> Anonymous 06/17/08(Tue)13:38 No.1171
Would it be possible for one in /x/ as well? I have the same problem with everyone complaining about shitty posts, but no one ever does anything to report them.

OP here.. maybe it would be best if it was a news update under the post submission box like moot usually does.. that way it would be site-wide and wouldnt require a sticky or a mod post.
